OUR HISTORY

Fast Track Math was established in August 2007 to offer after-school math to students on the Sammamish plateau. All students showed measurable improvement, and many achieved their respective grade levels in Singapore Math, thereby meeting the highest world-class math standards. In our second year, we adopted the diagnostic program StarMath to better assess student needs and placement. We also adopted MathFacts in a Flash. This computer-based program is proven to be an effective tool for helping students master their basic arithmetic facts, which is a critical component to math fluency.

Fast Track Math is a dynamic balance of interactive instruction, practice, and problem solving application. Students learn easily without confusion, and achieve mastery in all skills learned. This process of building knowledge in small, mastered increments integrates students' ability to comprehend math concepts and apply them with skill, accuracy and understanding.

THE URGENT NEED

Washington State has just adopted revised math standards that are more rigorous than those of the past decade. This trend is national. The National Mathematics Advisory Panel (NMAP) released their final report in February 2008, recommending sweeping improvements to math curricula at all levels nationwide.

Fast Track Math meets all the recommendations of NMAP and aligns to the new WA math standards.

The need for greater math proficiency is urgent. US students need to achieve parity with their international peers. They need to be able to pursue degrees and careers that require high levels of math proficiency. This is essential for their personal success in a technology-driven future as well as for our security and prosperity as a nation.
